The First Part Last by Angela Johnson
Sixteen year old Bobby and his girlfriend find out that they are pregnant despite how careful they were. Bobby ends up raising his daughter, Feather, by himself. He still goes to school, after dropping off Feather at the sitter. His parents don't help much and he rarely gets to spend time with his friends.
Bobby soon realizes that his whole life revolves around Feather....and he loves it.
The First Part Last is written in alternating time periods, now and then. Johnson keeps you wondering what really happened throughout the book. It is a quick, yet powerful read!
