Block Party this Friday

Friday, June 8 from 5-9 p.m. is the big Community Block Party on the front lawn of Lansing Library. What's there to do at the block party, you ask?

* Carnival-style games, like beanbag tosses
* Lightsaber Limbo (okay, that's just the limbo, but the pole LOOKS like a lightsaber)
* Dance Dance Revolution
* Karaoke Revolution
* Stump the Librarian--think up a question our librarian can't answer and you'll get a prize. I know you've got a good question in mind...
* Live music
* Board game tournaments, like Scrabble, chess, and others
* K-9 unit and fire trucks
* Solarscopes--did you know you can look at the sun and actually see what looks like flames with special telescopes?
* Food--bring some cash for hot dogs, popcorn, candy, and more

Of course, you'll want to sign up for our Summer Reading Program too. Sign-up starts Friday and you will get all the information on our different summer programs and prizes when you sign up.

Even if you don't plan to attend the party, be sure to remember the library has special hours on June 8: we will be open fron 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. only. But you should plan to stop by the block party for at least a little while--it'll be great!
